OLAKHOTA NORTHERN INUIT DOGS

The Northern Inuit Society

Picture
As has been previously mentioned, the NI society are the only official governing body for the NI breed.  We have a strict code of ethics, all breeders must health test their breeding stock and if we find anyone not complying with the rules, they will be struck off our list of recommended breeders and membership to the NI society will be revoked.
In the past, some people have tried to discredit us, they have formed splinter groups made scurrilous and libel statements about us on public forums, unfortunately for them, they had no proof of their lies and so they have started crossing their NI with other breeds such as the Czech Wolf dog , Sarloos Wolf dog and the GSD, claiming the NI is so unhealthy that new breeds need to be added to undo all the health problems.  Ask yourself this, if the NI is so unhealthy, would you really use it in your breeding plan?  I think not.
The NI society was set up to monitor breeders, to promote the breed'  we have a health survey on the official NI website for members to fill in, so that health can be monitored.
Below is a link to the NI society website, there you will find lots of info.

The Northern Inuit society rescue scheme

Our rescue scheme is an invaluable asset, Maryann Bingham, our rescue co-ordinator does sterling work and our network of fosterers is second to none.  Its a sad fact of life that a few NI will end up in rescue, but thanks to these people, they will be found their forever homes.  Alan and Judy Higson do a lot of fundraising for the rescue at our shows and with an online shop.
All NI up for rehoming will be speyed and neutured, homes checked thoroughly and we hope we can match the right dog to the right person.  Thankyou to all who make the rescue a success, Maryann, fosterers transporters, home checkers and of course, fund raisers, well done to you all.
